EXIM BANK ANNOUNCES NEW CEO

The Board of Directors of Exim Bank Tanzania is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Jaffari Matundu as our new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with immediate effect. The Board thanks Mr. Matundu for his exemplary leadership as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer over the last 10 months since his appointment in June, 2018. He ensured that the Bank continued to move forward both strategically and operationally. The appointment as CEO is a clear testament of the belief placed upon him in taking the Bank even further.

Mr. Matundu carries decades of experience ranging from audit firms to commercial banks. He holds a Post Graduate master’s in organizational leadership from the University of Oxford: Said Business School, a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Hons – Finance) from the University of Dar Es Salaam and is a Certified Public Accountant – CPA (T) of the National Board of Accountants and Auditors.

In our continuation to strengthen our top leadership, the Board is also happy to announce the appointment of Mr. David Lusala as our new Chief Operating Officer (COO) effectively Immediately. Mr. Lusala is currently the Head of Risk and Compliance and has been acting as our Chief Technology Officer for almost a year. He has a wealth of experience having worked in the financial and technology sectors for over 12 years and holds an MBA from the University of Wales UK. He currently sits as a Board Member and Chairman of the Board Audit and Risk Committee at the TMRC. As the new COO, Mr. Lusala will be responsible for driving the banks’ digital innovations and operational excellence.

The Board of Directors also welcomes Mr. Andrew Lyimo at the capacity of Head of Retail Banking. Mr. Lyimo brings with him 19+ years of banking experience and holds MSc Accounting and Finance from Mzumbe University. With this addition, we look forward to driving our retail business even further.

Furthermore, the Board of Directors wishes to inform the general public that Mr. Said Mwema who has been serving as the Chairman of the Board, his tenure comes to an end this May 2019. The Board of Directors sincerely thanks Mr. Mwema for his dedicated service and guidance during his tenure and wishes him good fortune in his future endeavors.

Lastly, the Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Kalpesh Mehta as a new addition to the Board as an Independent Director. Mr. Mehta is a Chartered Accountant and brings a wealth of knowledge and global experience spanning across two decades. The Board and Exim Bank Tanzania is looking forward to his guidance and dedicated service.
