MARK WORLD CANCER DAY

Dar es Salaam. February 4th, 2015: AS the rest of the world marked this year’s World Cancer Day, Exim Bank Tanzania has visited and donated essential items to the Children’s cancer ward at Muhimbili National Hospital yesterday, a move aimed at taking a positive approach to the fight against cancer.

Taking place under the theme ‘Not beyond us’, this year’s World Cancer Day aimed at taking a positive and proactive approach to the fight against cancer, highlighting that solutions do exist across the continuum of cancer, and that they are within reach.

Speaking during the handover of the items,Said that the bank is determined to impact the Tanzania cancer burden for the better since it has always been in the bank’s will to offer support towards a social cause.

“World Cancer Day is a unique opportunity to raise awareness that there is much that can be done at an individual, community and governmental level, to harness and mobilize solutions to cancer and catalyze positive change.

By donating to this course, we have the potential to send a strong message that the solutions to cancer prevails,” said 

also added that the Corporate Social Responsibility (CRS) Policy of Exim Bank Tanzania has been directed into supporting a range of community development areas including health and education.

Speaking on behalf of the hospital, applauded Exim Bank for their heart-felt donation and for visiting and spending time with children admitted in the ward.

He said that the visit will help to incite into the children’s minds that the society is parallel matching with them towards attaining solutions to their burdens.

“In many cultures and societies today cancer remains a taboo issue and people living with cancer are subjected to stigma and discrimination that may stop them from seeking care.

The bank’s staff visit today will among other things, propel the reduction of stigma associated with cancer and damaging myths and misconceptions about the disease will be dispelled,” he commented.

 

Exim Bank Tanzania staff hand over essential items to the Children who are admitted at Muhimbili National Hospital’s Children’s cancer ward to mark the World Cancer Day. The bank donated several items including food items, toys, soaps, stationeries etc, a move aimed at creating cancer awareness that goes in-line with this year’s World Cancer Day theme that says “Not Beyond Us”

Head of the branches of Exim Bank, Ms. Elizabeth Mayengoh, awarding books by one of the children admitted to Muhimbili National Hospital in special wards of children suffering from cancer in the world celebrate the day of cancers. Wanaoshudia are some of Exim bank staff and parents of these children. The bank handed various materials including food, toys, soap, school supplies, etc., the aim is to create awareness in relation to cancer program in line with the motto of this year's Day World Cancer stating that the problem of cancer "lies within our ability ".
